Open Edu­ca­tional Resources (OER) are teach­ing and learn­ing mate­ri­als that are freely acces­si­ble. Since they allow an adap­ta­tion to spe­cific teach­ing and learn­ing con­texts, OER can sim­plify the con­cep­tion and real­iza­tion of edu­ca­tional offers. The cre­ation and pub­li­ca­tion of OER offers the oppor­tu­nity to make one’s own work vis­i­ble in the aca­d­e­mic and sci­en­tific com­mu­nity. Fur­ther­more to use and pro­duc­tion offers valu­able chances to fur­ther develop teach­ing and learn­ing together with inter­na­tional part­ner uni­ver­si­ties to actively con­tribute towards an open teach­ing and learn­ing cul­ture. Despite these oppor­tu­ni­ties, OER are not yet fully estab­lished in the higher edu­ca­tion sec­tor. Rea­sons for this include indi­vid­ual uncer­tain­ties regard­ing legal, tech­ni­cal, or didac­tic issues.

In this work­shop, you will learn about the char­ac­ter­is­tics of open edu­ca­tional mate­ri­als and reflect on oppor­tu­ni­ties and chal­lenges that go along with their use. A spe­cial empha­sis lies on copy­right and open licens­ing. In inter­ac­tive exer­cises and prac­ti­cal exam­ples, you will learn how to inte­grate OER into your work and what to con­sider when cre­at­ing your own OER.
