OER in adult education and university teaching: legal foundations and practical applications
Event content
Target group
Teachers and learners in higher education, adult education and continuing education
Topic & procedure
Open Educational Resources (OER) are educational materials that can be used free of charge and can be adapted to different teaching/learning contexts and the specific needs of learning groups. In this way, OER not only support the design of educational programs, but also promote a constructive exchange between educational staff across institutional boundaries. The creation and publication of OER offers the opportunity to make one's own work visible in the professional community. At the same time - similar to open access publications - access to education is improved and an open teaching/learning culture is promoted.
Despite these opportunities, the creation, sharing and use of OER is still restrained in many areas of education. The reasons for this include individual uncertainties regarding legal, technical or didactic issues in dealing with OER.
In this online event, you will learn about the characteristics of open educational materials and discuss their opportunities and challenges. Particular attention will be paid to copyright and open licensing. In interactive exercises, you will learn how you can integrate openly licensed content into your educational offerings and what you need to consider when creating your own OER. Together, we will also take a look at the basic possible uses of generative AI.
