Topic & procedure

The OER in Focus conference is part of the OER strategy of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and offers a platform for exchange on the further development of open educational practices in Germany. Experts from science, education and politics come together to discuss key issues relating to open educational resources (OER). Practical workshops are an important part of the conference — including our contribution on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in OER practice.

twillo workshop:
Designing innovative teaching/learning scenarios with OER and AI

13.05.2025 from 4:15 pm

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in university teaching is increasing rapidly and opening up new opportunities for open educational resources (OER). At the same time, legal and didactic questions arise: How can AI be used sensibly to create and adapt OER? What challenges and opportunities arise for teachers and learners?

The workshop will first outline the current status of AI use in university teaching. Based on practical use cases, scenarios for the legally compliant use of AI as a “co-creator” in the creation of OER will be examined. The focus is on the question of how a reflective and responsible use of AI tools must be designed. Building on this, the participants will develop and discuss concepts for OER-based and AI-supported university teaching that focuses on learners as active knowledge producers. The aim is to understand AI as a supporting tool that enables new teaching/learning scenarios and can be sustainably integrated into open educational practices.
