About the event series

The three Lucerne uni­ver­si­ties and the ZHB Lucerne are par­tic­i­pat­ing in the inter­na­tional OE Week 2026 (March 2–6, 2026) with their own series of events. As part of this series, cur­rent devel­op­ments, prac­ti­cal exam­ples and research find­ings relat­ing to Open Edu­ca­tional Resources (OER) will be addressed and dis­cussed together.

The events bring together researchers, prac­ti­tion­ers and deci­sion-mak­ers and open up space for exchange on per­spec­tives, chal­lenges and design options in the con­text of open edu­ca­tion.

How is AI chang­ing open edu­ca­tion? Results of multi-per­spec­tive online sur­veys of the twillo net­work

Dr. Klaus Wan­nemacher, Funda Seyfeli-Özhiza­lan and Dr. Math­ias Stein (HIS-HE e.V.) present the results of our mixed-meth­ods sur­vey. OER lead users, twillo users, vice pres­i­dents for stud­ies and teach­ing and deans of stud­ies were sur­veyed.

Around 60% of respon­dents see a high poten­tial for gen­er­a­tive AI in the OER con­text. At the same time, legal uncer­tain­ties, con­tent-related chal­lenges and prag­matic hur­dles were iden­ti­fied as key obsta­cles. The con­clu­sions that can be drawn from this for teach­ers, cen­tral ser­vices and strate­gic uni­ver­sity devel­op­ment will be dis­cussed.
