About the event series
The three Lucerne universities and the ZHB Lucerne are participating in the international OE Week 2026 (March 2–6, 2026) with their own series of events. As part of this series, current developments, practical examples and research findings relating to Open Educational Resources (OER) will be addressed and discussed together.
The events bring together researchers, practitioners and decision-makers and open up space for exchange on perspectives, challenges and design options in the context of open education.

How is AI changing open education? Results of multi-perspective online surveys of the twillo network
Tuesday, March 3, 2026, 12:15 — 1:00 p.m.
Dr. Klaus Wannemacher, Funda Seyfeli-Özhizalan and Dr. Mathias Stein (HIS-HE e.V.) present the results of our mixed-methods survey. OER lead users, twillo users, vice presidents for studies and teaching and deans of studies were surveyed.
Around 60% of respondents see a high potential for generative AI in the OER context. At the same time, legal uncertainties, content-related challenges and pragmatic hurdles were identified as key obstacles. The conclusions that can be drawn from this for teachers, central services and strategic university development will be discussed.
Our blog post “AI and OER: Insights into current use and challenges” also provides an insight into the study.
