Topic & procedure

The 25th Annual Conference of the German Initiative for Network Information (DINI) will take place from September 18 to 19, 2024 at the University of Potsdam under the motto “Shared Infrastructures for Open Science”. The program is available here.

About the DINI

The German Initiative for Network Information supports the development of modern information and communication technologies that bring about a change in information infrastructures at universities and research institutions. DINI was founded to promote information and communication services and the necessary development of information infrastructures at universities — both regionally and nationally. DINI focuses on agreements, cooperation, standards and recommendations in order to improve the range of services.

One practical example is the General Metadata Profile for Educational Resources (AMB). It was developed by the OER metadata group and twillo activists have also been involved in this open group since 2019.

Goals of DINI:

  • Publication of exemplary solutions and recommendations for subsequent use
  • Promotion and further development of standards and their application
  • Support and promotion of competence centers using modern tools
  • Improving the comprehensive exchange of experience through conferences, workshops and expert discussions
  • Announcement and suggestion of new funding programs

During the annual conference, the topic of Open Science in the field of information infrastructures, academic libraries, IT centers and media institutions will be discussed together with invited experts. Keynotes, lectures, workshops and poster sessions will shed light on a broad spectrum of Open Science in practice.

Speakers

  • Johannes Koch (twillo, Universität Osnabrück)
  • Noreen Krause (Project management twillo, Technical Information Library)
