Topic & procedure

The TURN Conference launched by the Foundation for Innovation in University Teaching (StIL) is dedicated to the practical implementation of sustainable teaching innovations in the university context. Under the motto “TURN to ACTION”, the Technical University of Darmstadt, together with the TU9 network, invites you to TURN25 in Darmstadt on September 29 and 30, 2025. Discussions will include questions on the design of teaching architectures, transfer formats between science and society and the conditions for successful innovation in studies and teaching.

AI-supported open teaching materials: challenges and opportunities for university teaching — findings from Lower Saxony

How can artificial intelligence (AI) usefully support the creation and use of open teaching materials such as open educational resources (OER)? In the practical discourse, twillo presents findings from its own workshop formats, a survey of teachers in Lower Saxony and background discussions with experts.

A short presentation (15 minutes) introduces key issues, followed by a fishbowl discussion (45 minutes) with three external guests. Together with the audience, concrete options for action for a didactically sound, legally compliant and sustainably anchored use of AI-supported OER in university teaching will be discussed.

Speakers

  • Dr. Mathias Stein (twillo, HIS-HE e.V.)
  • Johannes Koch (twillo, Universität Osnabrück)
  • Yulia Loose (Juristin, twillo, elan e.V.)
