About the conference

From June 24 to 27, 2025, the 9th Library Congress will take place at the Messe- und Congress Centrum Bremen. Under the motto “#LibrariesDecidedDemocratic”, BiblioCon 2025 offers space for discussions on the role of libraries in democracy and for an exchange on current developments in the library and information sector.

BiblioCon is the central training event for library and information professionals in German-speaking countries. It is organized by the Association of German Librarians (VDB) and the German Library Association (BIB).

AI as a co-creator for OER — legally compliant and inspiring

The development and use of open educational resources (OER) is increasingly being shaped by artificial intelligence (AI). The hands-on lab will demonstrate in a practical way how AI-supported tools can be used to create high-quality, legally compliant and innovative teaching materials.

Central topics of the lab:

Efficient material creation: use of AI to generate flexible and adaptive OER — e.g. simulations, case vignettes and graphics
Legal aspects: Legally compliant use of AI tools taking into account copyright, data protection and public domain
Creative approaches: Development of effective prompts and didactic concepts

The focus is on active collaboration between the participants. Practical exercises and case studies will show how AI can reduce workload, create freedom and provide new impetus for teaching. The lab will be complemented by short keynote speeches and a joint discussion on the opportunities and risks of using AI in education.

The hands-on lab is aimed at teachers of all experience levels and invites them to explore the potential of AI as a supporting tool in OER practice.
