How do I assign tags and keywords?

To add keywords to your material, please open the metadata dialog of the material in question.

The Fixed Subject Headings input field is linked to the German National Library's Common Authority File (GND). This is a list of fixed terms that are used for cataloging literature in libraries, but increasingly also in projects and web applications, and thus promote data exchange across institutional boundaries. To select a keyword from the list, enter the first few letters of the term you are looking for. If it is available, it will be displayed by autocomplete and you can accept it by clicking on it.

Edit screen 'Edit info' opened: 'Classifications' area with selected fields 'Text document', 'Figure', 'Exercise' and subject area 'Educational science (pedagogy)'. The term 'Open educational resources' is highlighted. The 'Save' button is highlighted at the bottom right.

In the Keywords input field, you can enter your own terms that match your materials. Please note the following information:

  • Assign three to seven meaningful terms/keywords.
  • Use the keywords in the singular.
  • Use verbs in the indicative.

My material cannot be assigned to a subject. What do I do now?

To mark materials as interdisciplinary, first select the Interdisciplinary option under Classifications in the metadata dialog as the subject and subject area. You can then select fixed keywords (e.g. key competence or university didactics) and supplement this description with meaningful keywords.

Open the 'Edit info' editing screen in the 'Classifications' area: The material types 'Text document', 'Illustration' and 'Exercise' are selected. Interdisciplinary' is selected. Under 'Fixed keywords', 'Open educational resources', 'Core competence (key competence)' and 'University didactics (university)' are entered. Keywords: 'Sample', 'Example', 'OER creation'. The 'Save' button is highlighted at the bottom right.
