About twillo

twillo is the Lower Saxony portal for Open Education Resources (OER) in university teaching. In addition to infrastructure, twillo offers comprehensive support as a central point of contact and competence center. For example, with information on OER basics, various events or templates for practical use. The OER portal is funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture(MWK).

twillo is primarily aimed at lecturers who can publish university educational materials on the portal with an account. Other interested parties, for example from e-learning institutions or libraries, as well as students are very welcome.

The name twillo is derived from the Low German word “twill” and describes the branching of twigs and branches. Thus, twillo stands for the diverse possibilities of adapting and further developing the educational materials provided.

From 2019 to 2023, twillo was jointly developed by the TIB - Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, the E-Learning Academic Network Niedersachsen (elan e.V.), the HIS Institute for Higher Education Development (HIS-HE), the Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences, the University of Osnabrück and Stud.IP e.V.
