{"id":7434,"date":"2022-12-14T14:23:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-14T13:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.twillo.de\/blog\/six-visions-for-the-future-of-oer-at-universities\/"},"modified":"2025-06-05T16:15:30","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T14:15:30","slug":"six-visions-for-the-future-of-oer-at-universities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.twillo.de\/en\/blog\/six-visions-for-the-future-of-oer-at-universities\/","title":{"rendered":"Six visions for the future of OER at universities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"teaser-text\">In con\u00adnec\u00adtion with the dis\u00adcus\u00adsions about the edu\u00adca\u00adtion of the future, uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties are faced with the chal\u00adlenge of keep\u00ading pace with advanc\u00ading dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adiza\u00adtion in the area of uni\u00adver\u00adsity teach\u00ading, using mod\u00adern dig\u00adi\u00adtal forms of teach\u00ading and learn\u00ading in a ben\u00ade\u00adfi\u00adcial way and estab\u00adlish\u00ading suit\u00adable exam\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion and advi\u00adsory con\u00adcepts.<\/p>\n\n<p>In the course of the dig\u00adi\u00adtal trans\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adtion at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties, the impor\u00adtance of dig\u00adi\u00adtal teach\u00ading and learn\u00ading resources has also steadily increased. The extent to which the use of free teach\u00ading and learn\u00ading mate\u00adri\u00adals is already wide\u00adspread at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties in Lower Sax\u00adony and how the accep\u00adtance of OER can be pro\u00admoted at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties was inves\u00adti\u00adgated by the twillo project net\u00adwork through HIS-HE as part of an online sur\u00advey from May to June 2022 (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twillo.de\/blog\/open-educational-practice-an-den-hochschulen-staerken-zwei-twillo-studien\/\">blog post<\/a>). In addi\u00adtion to iden\u00adti\u00adfy\u00ading mea\u00adsures for more exten\u00adsive use of OER in their own teach\u00ading and incen\u00adtives for greater pro\u00advi\u00adsion and adap\u00adta\u00adtion, the sur\u00advey, in which 104 employ\u00adees and man\u00adagers from cen\u00adtral insti\u00adtu\u00adtions at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties in Lower Sax\u00adony took part, also aimed to deter\u00admine the fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal impor\u00adtance of OER at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties. In this con\u00adtext, the twillo net\u00adwork also inves\u00adti\u00adgated the ques\u00adtion of how impor\u00adtant the respon\u00addents believe OER should be at their own uni\u00adver\u00adsity in five years\u2019 time.   <\/p>\n\n<p>The eval\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion results show a col\u00ador\u00adful bou\u00adquet of future visions for the desired teach\u00ading cul\u00adture at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties, in which OER will have a firm place:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Advi\u00adsory ser\u00advices<\/strong>: <em>OER advi\u00adsory ser\u00advices have been expanded at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties and sup\u00adport teach\u00aders in the use, cre\u00adation and dis\u00adsem\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion of OER mate\u00adri\u00adals.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>OER pol\u00adicy<\/strong>: <em>The legal frame\u00adwork and por\u00adtals for access\u00ading and using OER are known; uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties have for\u00admu\u00adlated a pol\u00adicy for teach\u00aders.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fur\u00adther devel\u00adop\u00adment of teacher train\u00ading cur\u00adric\u00adula<\/strong>: <em>OER are part of teacher train\u00ading.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Part of teach\u00ading cul\u00adture and plan\u00adning<\/strong>: <em>OER are known to all teach\u00ading staff, are an inte\u00adgral part of cur\u00adricu\u00adlum plan\u00adning and sup\u00adport teach\u00ading design.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Open\u00adness &amp; Open Edu\u00adca\u00adtion<\/strong>: <em>OER are a dri\u00adving force for the didac\u00adtic devel\u00adop\u00adment of uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Learn\u00ading mate\u00adri\u00adals<\/strong>: <em>OER mate\u00adri\u00adals are tai\u00adlored to the stu\u00addent tar\u00adget group, sup\u00adport self-study and con\u00adtribute sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcantly to the stu\u00addents\u2019 level of knowl\u00adedge.<\/em><br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>These six visions for the future illus\u00adtrate the con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00adable poten\u00adtial that OER is said to have in higher edu\u00adca\u00adtion teach\u00ading in the com\u00ading years, as well as the diverse pre\u00adreq\u00adui\u00adsites and impli\u00adca\u00adtions that need to be taken into account on the path to open edu\u00adca\u00adtional prac\u00adtice at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties. It remains to be seen to what extent the indi\u00advid\u00adual visions can be par\u00adtially or fully imple\u00admented in the future.
