Videos not only offer the oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to depict a vari\u00adety of for\u00admats, but also enable acces\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adity to be taken into account. How\u00adever, in addi\u00adtion to the didac\u00adti\u00adcally pos\u00adi\u00adtive aspects, the legal frame\u00adwork con\u00addi\u00adtions must not be ignored, espe\u00adcially if videos are to be cre\u00adated and dis\u00adtrib\u00aduted as Open Edu\u00adca\u00adtional Resources (OER). The ques\u00adtion of pro\u00adduc\u00adtion costs and poten\u00adtial resources are also always a cen\u00adtral com\u00adpo\u00adnent when con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00ading the cre\u00adation of videos.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OERcamp 2024 Barcamp session: \u201cI want videos\u201d<\/h2>\n\n<p>With all that videos offer but also require, the ques\u00adtion there\u00adfore arises as to how this can be imple\u00admented in uni\u00adver\u00adsity oper\u00ada\u00adtions. Is there a low-thresh\u00adold way to pro\u00adduce videos with\u00adout hav\u00ading to rely on a pro\u00adfes\u00adsional team? We took this ques\u00adtion as an oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to dis\u00adcuss it at <a href=\"https:\/\/pretalx.com\/oercamp24\/talk\/SESRGX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OER\u00adcamp 2024<\/a> in Ham\u00adburg. Dur\u00ading our dis\u00adcus\u00adsion about videos and edu\u00adca\u00adtional films, we real\u00adized that inter\u00adest in them is extremely high. Our panel included par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants with dif\u00adfer\u00adent lev\u00adels of expe\u00adri\u00adence in the field of video pro\u00adduc\u00adtion \u2014 from novices to advanced to pro\u00adfes\u00adsional media design\u00aders. This diver\u00adsity made it pos\u00adsi\u00adble to shed light on dif\u00adfer\u00adent per\u00adspec\u00adtives and ideas and to learn together from the expe\u00adri\u00adences of oth\u00aders.     <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Let <\/strong><strong>videos <\/strong><strong>only be used in indi\u00advid\u00adual dis\u00adci\u00adplines or can they even be used to bring together inter\u00addis\u00adci\u00adpli\u00adnary con\u00adtent?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>As a first step, we dis\u00adcussed what videos can actu\u00adally be used for. In which teach\u00ading sce\u00adnar\u00adios are videos miss\u00ading and can they replace out\u00addated didac\u00adtic for\u00admats? Be it through exper\u00adi\u00admen\u00adtal set-ups, excur\u00adsions, inter\u00adviews, ani\u00admated videos and more. These diverse sce\u00adnar\u00adios make it pos\u00adsi\u00adble to con\u00advey var\u00adied and prac\u00adti\u00adcal con\u00adtent to learn\u00aders. Videos are also used in sci\u00adence com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion and become prac\u00adti\u00adcal com\u00adpan\u00adions for stud\u00adies when the objec\u00adtives, pro\u00adce\u00addure and results are explained to par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants and tar\u00adget group-ori\u00adented com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion is cho\u00adsen. The use of dif\u00adfer\u00adent for\u00admats for the same con\u00adtent makes it pos\u00adsi\u00adble to meet the needs of dif\u00adfer\u00adent tar\u00adget groups. For exam\u00adple, if an in-depth under\u00adstand\u00ading is required, a long video can be cre\u00adated for a spe\u00adcial\u00adist audi\u00adence. Here, com\u00adplex rela\u00adtion\u00adships can be explained at leisure. At the same time, shorter clips can sum\u00adma\u00adrize the most rel\u00ade\u00advant infor\u00adma\u00adtion and thus pro\u00advide a quick insight.        <\/p>\n\n<p>Another prac\u00adti\u00adcal approach is videos in con\u00adjunc\u00adtion with QR codes, which make it easy to dis\u00adtrib\u00adute videos. By inte\u00adgrat\u00ading QR codes into fly\u00aders, infor\u00adma\u00adtion mate\u00adr\u00adial or posters, for exam\u00adple, the respec\u00adtive tar\u00adget group can access the video directly. This reduces the infor\u00adma\u00adtion den\u00adsity in the printed mate\u00adri\u00adals and makes it eas\u00adier to access the con\u00adtent. The vari\u00adety of for\u00admats there\u00adfore not only opens up cre\u00adative free\u00addom, but also the oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to design inclu\u00adsive and acces\u00adsi\u00adble edu\u00adca\u00adtion. In addi\u00adtion to the advan\u00adtage that videos are per\u00adceived both visu\u00adally and aurally, other fea\u00adtures of acces\u00adsi\u00adble com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion can be taken into account in videos. This includes the inte\u00adgra\u00adtion of sub\u00adti\u00adtles, the con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion of color con\u00adtrasts for the visu\u00adally impaired and col\u00ador\u00adblind as well as the avoid\u00adance of dis\u00adtract\u00ading back\u00adground music to reduce stim\u00aduli.     <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Edit? Yes, please! <\/h2>\n\n<p>When videos are pub\u00adlished as OER, this offers the advan\u00adtage that they can be edited and adapted to indi\u00advid\u00adual needs \u2014 pro\u00advided that an appro\u00adpri\u00adately open license is cho\u00adsen. These advan\u00adtages are rein\u00adforced by OER repos\u00adi\u00adto\u00adries such as twillo, which offer a wide selec\u00adtion of videos free of adver\u00adtis\u00ading. OER videos can be found and shared here, mak\u00ading them acces\u00adsi\u00adble to a wide audi\u00adence. The cre\u00adation of videos as OER requires com\u00adpli\u00adance with license infor\u00adma\u00adtion and the inte\u00adgra\u00adtion of the most impor\u00adtant meta\u00addata in the end\u00adcard in accor\u00addance with the TULLU+B rule. In addi\u00adtion, it turned out to be advis\u00adable to attach a script and a sto\u00adry\u00adboard in order to make con\u00adtent, set\u00adtings, scenes, cuts and graph\u00adics trans\u00adpar\u00adent and reusable. At best, how\u00adever, access to the project file would be pos\u00adsi\u00adble. How\u00adever, as this is tied to the edit\u00ading soft\u00adware, it is only pos\u00adsi\u00adble to open it for sub\u00adse\u00adquent users if you are lucky. It is also impor\u00adtant to deal with issues such as the right to quote in order to ensure an appro\u00adpri\u00adate dis\u00adcus\u00adsion of the con\u00adtent pre\u00adsented or to con\u00adsider whether copy\u00adrighted mate\u00adr\u00adial, soft\u00adware or logos can be seen.       <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cWhat do I (not) have to be able to do?\u201d<\/h2>\n\n<p>Var\u00adi\u00adous soft\u00adware solu\u00adtions are rec\u00adom\u00admended for edit\u00ading videos, includ\u00ading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inshot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">InShot<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/luma-touch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Luma\u00adFu\u00adsion<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackmagicdesign.com\/de\/products\/davinciresolve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DaVinci Resolve<\/a> as free or low-cost options that can also be used by novices. The impor\u00adtance of high-qual\u00adity audio record\u00ading was also empha\u00adsized, with the pur\u00adchase of a good micro\u00adphone rec\u00adom\u00admended. On the other hand, very good results can be achieved with cam\u00adera tech\u00adnol\u00adogy using cell phone cam\u00aderas. For addi\u00adtional equip\u00adment, uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties often offer equip\u00adment rental and advice. It is there\u00adfore worth find\u00ading exist\u00ading resources at the uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties and cre\u00adat\u00ading syn\u00ader\u00adgies. How\u00adever, the pro\u00adduc\u00adtion of videos, espe\u00adcially screen\u00adcasts, is often asso\u00adci\u00adated with legal pit\u00adfalls.     <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Take the plunge and gain practical experience<\/h2>\n\n<p>It was ulti\u00admately con\u00adcluded that videos are a valu\u00adable ele\u00adment in teach\u00ading and com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion due to their flex\u00adi\u00adble appli\u00adca\u00adtion pos\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties. Espe\u00adcially for those who are cre\u00adat\u00ading their own videos for the first time, the amount of work, orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion and pro\u00adduc\u00adtion can seem daunt\u00ading. How\u00adever, this should by no means lead to the com\u00adplete aban\u00addon\u00adment of video pro\u00adduc\u00adtion. Rather, videos should be used to try out new for\u00admats, gain prac\u00adti\u00adcal expe\u00adri\u00adence and prac\u00adtice using them.
