{"id":2587,"date":"2024-11-27T10:35:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-27T09:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.twillo.de\/new-perspectives-agility-and-artificial-intelligence-in-university-teaching\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T12:51:52","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T11:51:52","slug":"new-perspectives-agility-and-artificial-intelligence-in-university-teaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.twillo.de\/en\/blog\/new-perspectives-agility-and-artificial-intelligence-in-university-teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"New perspectives: Agility and artificial intelligence in university teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"teaser-text\">The annual con\u00adfer\u00adence of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmw-online.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soci\u00adety for Media in Sci\u00adence<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/campussource.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cam\u00adpus\u00adSource<\/a>, which was held at the AI Cen\u00adter of ETH Zurich from Octo\u00adber 23 to 25, 2024, addressed the oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties and chal\u00adlenges of dig\u00adi\u00adtal trans\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adtion through arti\u00adfi\u00adcial intel\u00adli\u00adgence (AI) and agility in higher edu\u00adca\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The orga\u00adniz\u00aders empha\u00adsized that tra\u00addi\u00adtional meth\u00adods only have a lim\u00adited effect in view of the rapid devel\u00adop\u00adments in the field of arti\u00adfi\u00adcial intel\u00adli\u00adgence (AI) and that inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive approaches are required. The con\u00adfer\u00adence focused on solu\u00adtions for how uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties can develop the nec\u00ades\u00adsary flex\u00adi\u00adbil\u00adity and will\u00ading\u00adness to inno\u00advate in order to remain fit for the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hul.uni-hamburg.de\/ueber-uns\/personen\/profs\/kerstin-mayrberger.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ker\u00adstin Mayr\u00adberger<\/a> (Uni\u00adver\u00adsity of Ham\u00adburg) high\u00adlighted the need for \u201corga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtional ambidex\u00adter\u00adity\u201d, in which uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties must develop the abil\u00adity to bal\u00adance sta\u00adbil\u00adity and change. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.karlsruhe.dhbw.de\/prof-dr-ehlers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ulf-Daniel Ehlers<\/a> (Baden-W\u00fcrt\u00adtem\u00adberg Coop\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtive State Uni\u00adver\u00adsity) pre\u00adsented a detailed com\u00adpe\u00adtency model, which was devel\u00adoped on the basis of a com\u00adpre\u00adhen\u00adsive study of employ\u00adees, defines domain-spe\u00adcific AI skills for dif\u00adfer\u00adent pro\u00adfes\u00adsional fields and com\u00adprises twelve impor\u00adtant future com\u00adpe\u00adten\u00adcies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive prac\u00adti\u00adcal exam\u00adples such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/ethz.ch\/de\/die-eth-zuerich\/lehre\/ai-in-education\/projects\/ethel.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ethel project<\/a> by Gerd Kor\u00adte\u00admeyer (ETH AI Cen\u00adter) showed how AI tools can be suc\u00adcess\u00adfully used in uni\u00adver\u00adsity teach\u00ading to effi\u00adciently sup\u00adport the super\u00advi\u00adsion of stu\u00addents. Daniel Mark\u00adgraf pre\u00adsented the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.akad.de\/ki-gestuetztes-lernen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI Com\u00adpass<\/a>\u201d at the AKAD dis\u00adtance learn\u00ading uni\u00adver\u00adsity, an instru\u00adment that offers stu\u00addents prac\u00adti\u00adcal guid\u00adance in the use of AI tools. Imanol Schl\u00e1g from ETH Zurich high\u00adlighted the poten\u00adtial of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swiss-ai.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Swiss AI Ini\u00adtia\u00adtive<\/a>\u201d for the fur\u00adther devel\u00adop\u00adment of lan\u00adguage mod\u00adels that are used both in edu\u00adca\u00adtion and in the health\u00adcare sec\u00adtor.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aspects of open edu\u00adca\u00adtion were dealt with in par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar in the con\u00adtext of an open track. As a mem\u00adber of the OER por\u00adtal twillo, <a href=\"https:\/\/his-he.de\/uber-uns\/teams-der-geschaeftsbereiche\/hochschulmanagement\/dr-klaus-wannemacher\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Klaus Wan\u00adnemacher<\/a> reported on the vari\u00adable expec\u00adta\u00adtions regard\u00ading the adap\u00adta\u00adtion of open edu\u00adca\u00adtion in eco\u00adnom\u00adics teach\u00ading based on the results of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twillo.de\/en\/blog\/a-treasure-trove-of-teaching-materials-in-economics-available-free-of-charge\/\">sur\u00advey of eco\u00adnom\u00adics lec\u00adtur\u00aders<\/a> at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties in Lower Sax\u00adony. The results of the quan\u00adti\u00adta\u00adtive sur\u00advey, which will be pub\u00adlished in the com\u00ading weeks, indi\u00adcate a <strong>reluc\u00adtance to adapt open learn\u00ading mate\u00adri\u00adals<\/strong> in eco\u00adnom\u00adics. Many of those sur\u00adveyed showed lit\u00adtle famil\u00adiar\u00adity with find\u00ading, devel\u00adop\u00ading and pro\u00advid\u00ading open learn\u00ading mate\u00adri\u00adals, while <strong>at the same time, junior lec\u00adtur\u00aders<\/strong> in <strong>par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar<\/strong> expressed <strong>high expec\u00adta\u00adtions for the future rel\u00ade\u00advance of open edu\u00adca\u00adtional resources<\/strong>. In the sub\u00adse\u00adquent dis\u00adcus\u00adsion, fur\u00adther gov\u00adern\u00adment incen\u00adtives for open edu\u00adca\u00adtional prac\u00adtice at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties and future pos\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties for AI-sup\u00adported devel\u00adop\u00adment of open teach\u00ading and learn\u00ading mate\u00adri\u00adals played a role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suc\u00adcess\u00adful annual con\u00adfer\u00adence pro\u00advided a com\u00adpre\u00adhen\u00adsive overview of the inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive strength and adapt\u00adabil\u00adity of uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties in the dig\u00adi\u00adtal age and empha\u00adsized the need to estab\u00adlish agility and AI skills as cor\u00adner\u00adstones of mod\u00adern edu\u00adca\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The orga\u00adniz\u00aders empha\u00adsized that tra\u00addi\u00adtional meth\u00adods only have a lim\u00adited effect in view of the rapid devel\u00adop\u00adments in the field of arti\u00adfi\u00adcial intel\u00adli\u00adgence (AI) and that inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive approaches are required.
