twillo is one of the eight win\u00adners in the Open Assets cat\u00ade\u00adgory of the Open Edu\u00adca\u00adtion Awards for Excel\u00adlence in 2025. Orga\u00adnized by Open Edu\u00adca\u00adtion Global (OEGlobal), the OEAwards have been rec\u00adog\u00adniz\u00ading out\u00adstand\u00ading con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions to open edu\u00adca\u00adtion world\u00adwide \u2014 peo\u00adple, resources and prac\u00adtices \u2014 since 2011. The award high\u00adlights the grow\u00ading impor\u00adtance of high-qual\u00adity, freely reusable teaching\/learning mate\u00adri\u00adals (OER) \u2014 and the role of an active com\u00admu\u00adnity that strength\u00adens open\u00adness in higher edu\u00adca\u00adtion.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What sets the OEAwards apart \u2014 and why this is relevant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The OEAwards are pre\u00adsented annu\u00adally by OEGlobal, the inter\u00adna\u00adtional net\u00adwork for open edu\u00adca\u00adtion. Since 2011, 284 entries have been inducted into the \u201cHall of Fame\u201d \u2014 an indi\u00adca\u00adtor of the con\u00adti\u00adnu\u00adity and reach of this award in the global open edu\u00adca\u00adtion com\u00admu\u00adnity. In 2025, the win\u00adners were announced at a global reveal event.

There was again broad par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpa\u00adtion for 2025: 196 nom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtions from over 40 coun\u00adtries were received from the com\u00admu\u00adnity; the short\u00adlist com\u00adprised 48 final\u00adists, selected by a com\u00admit\u00adtee of pre\u00advi\u00adous award win\u00adners and mem\u00adbers of the OEGlobal Board. In the main cat\u00ade\u00adgories, 87 nom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtions (Indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adals), 55 (Open Assets) and 54 (Open Prac\u00adtices) were counted. These fig\u00adures under\u00adline the fact that the OEAwards act as an inter\u00adna\u00adtional ref\u00ader\u00adence point for good prac\u00adtice in open edu\u00adca\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What \u201cOpen Assets\u201d means<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Open Assets cat\u00ade\u00adgory rec\u00adog\u00adnizes edu\u00adca\u00adtional resources that are devel\u00adoped and made avail\u00adable in the spirit of open edu\u00adca\u00adtion. The award rec\u00adog\u00adnizes projects that not only pro\u00advide such open mate\u00adri\u00adals, but also curate and dis\u00adsem\u00adi\u00adnate them in such a way that they can be used sus\u00adtain\u00adably in learn\u00ading and teach\u00ading con\u00adtexts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What the award means for twillo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The recog\u00adni\u00adtion in \u201cOpen Assets\u201d does not only address the plat\u00adform, but above all the com\u00admu\u00adnity and infra\u00adstruc\u00adture that sup\u00adport twillo: peo\u00adple who make mate\u00adr\u00adial openly avail\u00adable; teaching\/learning con\u00adtexts that actively use OER; struc\u00adtures that pro\u00admote open\u00adness. twillo makes OER vis\u00adi\u00adble and find\u00adable, makes them avail\u00adable in a struc\u00adtured way and sup\u00adports their fur\u00adther devel\u00adop\u00adment with a broad port\u00adfo\u00adlio of advice and sup\u00adport \u2014 a con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtion to a com\u00admon, open knowl\u00adedge space in open uni\u00adver\u00adsity teach\u00ading. The inte\u00adgra\u00adtion of the Open Edu\u00adca\u00adtional Resources Search Index (OERSI)<\/g> on twillo, which makes over 90,000 open edu\u00adca\u00adtional mate\u00adri\u00adals from all over the world search\u00adable and can be expanded to include addi\u00adtional sources at any time, received spe\u00adcial recog\u00adni\u00adtion. In addi\u00adtion, the OERSI can also be inte\u00adgrated into other web\u00adsites and repos\u00adi\u00adto\u00adries via an open source plug-in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

twillo makes it easy to pro\u00advide your own open edu\u00adca\u00adtional resources and con\u00adtribute to open uni\u00adver\u00adsity teach\u00ading. Access is usu\u00adally straight\u00adfor\u00adward for uni\u00adver\u00adsity mem\u00adbers via their own uni\u00adver\u00adsity ID using sin\u00adgle sign-on; alter\u00adna\u00adtively, an account can be set up man\u00adu\u00adally on request. The per\u00adsonal work\u00adspace can be accessed via the \u201cLogin\u201d but\u00adton. There, mate\u00adri\u00adals can be cre\u00adated and described in a struc\u00adtured man\u00adner before they are delib\u00ader\u00adately released for pub\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtion.
