What is a DOI and how can I obtain one for my teaching and learning materials?
A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a unique and permanent identifier for physical, digital or abstract objects, such as videos, articles or teaching/learning materials. When a DOI is assigned, an individual character string is assigned to the work in question and a URL is stored that can be used to permanently refer to the content. This ensures that the work can be identified and cited in the long term.
A DOI can be assigned on twillo for an individual material as well as for a collection.
Important: If an individual material receives a DOI, only minor changes can be made to the work, such as the correction of a spelling mistake. If major changes are made (e.g. entire paragraphs added or illustrations removed), a new material is created for which a new DOI can be assigned if required.
If, on the other hand, a collection receives a DOI, you can successively add, replace or remove materials and thus use the collection as a material pool in the long term.
If you would like to receive a DOI for content that you publish via twillo, please contact our support team using the contact form.
