GitHub is a plat­form to store, edit, and pub­lish con­tent. The ser­vice is typ­i­cally used for soft­ware devel­op­ment and ver­sion con­trol. How­ever, since GitHub is acces­si­ble free of charge, enables col­lab­o­ra­tive work, doc­u­ments changes trans­par­ently and trace­ably, and allows for the copy­ing and fur­ther edit­ing of con­tent, the ser­vice is also very well suited for the use in open edu­ca­tion.
